For Sale – Leica CS35 Tablet Controller
I am selling my spare Leica CS35 tablet controller, which I have used for the past four years. I currently use another CS35 together with a CS20 on a daily basis, so this unit is no longer required. The controller comes with Captivate v8.1 installed and can connect to:
• Leica TS15 with Viva versions up to v9.06 • Leica TS16 with Captivate v8.1
According to Panasonic specifications, the tablet is rated IP65 for water and dust resistance. However, in real site conditions the touchscreen becomes very sensitive in rain, which can make efficient work difficult. In wet weather, I usually switch to the CS20, which is more reliable in those conditions. For this reason, I would recommend using the CS35 as a second controller rather than a primary one.
Benefits of using CS35 instead of CS20
1. Much larger screen The large display is the biggest advantage: • Clear visibility of complex DTMs, linework and surfaces • Easy reading of dense DWG/DXF files without constant zooming • Small details are far easier to spot Ideal for setting out, as-builts and detailed design work.
2. Handles heavy files faster With PC-class hardware, the CS35: • Loads large DWG/DXF files within seconds • Works smoothly with complex drawings and large surfaces • Feels very similar to using a laptop in the field
3. Full Windows operating system Unlike the CS20, the CS35 runs Windows, allowing you to: • Install your own software (PDF viewers, CAD viewers, cloud tools) • Access email, Teams, OneDrive, Dropbox, etc. • Stay connected and work remotely from site This is a major advantage for surveyors who do more than just measuring.
4. Office-style work on site The CS35 is ideal for: • Reviewing drawings on site • Comparing multiple files • Checking design vs as-built visually • Making decisions without returning to the office
5. Excellent as a second controller Many surveyors (myself included) use: • CS35 in good weather for visibility and productivity • CS20 in rain or harsh conditions for reliability This combination offers the best of both worlds.
